As I was following the events in the Nagorno-Karabakh, I noticed the similarity to the chain of events that ultimately ended with the conquest of Constantinople (by Mehmet the 2nd also known as Mehmet the conqueror) in 1453. Interesingly Ilham Aliev resemblance somewhat to the conquerer.
In those days the Christian world did not come to the Byzantine’s rescue. As a result of their betrayal, the weakened Byzantine had to fend for itself all alone. Not a match for the might of the Ottoman army, the Byzantine fell to the Ottomans. Isn’t that what is happening to ethnic Armenians in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) these days?
